You haven't even begun
Hi! Do you mind if I start this long - really long - old meme? Everybody did it except me and I know that you already know how I feel about Buffy, but I'm always willing to talk about BtVS and I slept a lot this afternoon so I'm incredibly awake.

On a sidenote, the latest episode of The Crazy Ones was boring - especially all the Sydney and Simon's parts - but I think I'll maybe watch until the end of the first season. Look what I'm doing for you, SMG! Also tomorrow I'll watch True Detective's last episode.OMG I WANT/DON'T WANT TO! >O< I'm so curious to see how it ends but I also will be a little bit sad because it's an amazing show. True Detective is beautiful in a scary, depressing, disturbing way. And I'm kinda shipping the most doomed ship of all time, so I'm pretty pleased.

Here's the meme questions in case I forget (I noticed that there are some variations in the questions from meme to meme)

Favourite Season

No doubts on this one. My most favourite season of all the favourite seasons is ... Season Five!
It's the season I rewatch the most. As I said in some previous post, S5 is the perfect mix between action, heartbreaking moments, incredibly amusing moments, nice storytelling and with my favourite Scoobies combo. I even like Xander in S5. (Well, it's true. Except for the "being totally on Riley's side without even knowing jack about his relationship with Buffy", he's at his best in this season and in S4)

I love the major storyline involving Dawn, the monks and Glory. I find Glory an amusing villain and I just love the fact that the greatest love interest in this season, for Buffy, is Dawn. I can't tell how I love the fact that it's all about family, real family (Which means that Tara, Giles, Anya ... they are always included in Buffy's heart. There's a place even for Spike) I love how it focuses on Joyce and Buffy's relationship in a way that maybe it wasn't done previously, because having a little sister changes everything. We realize how nurturing and protective Buffy really is, but also how she was always the "big girl" even when she was little - I find always interesting that bit in No place like Home when Joyce gives cute names to Dawn and call Buffy just ... Buffy. It tells all sort of things about the role Buffy plays in her family. She's the Slayer - the protector, the strong one - even there and she shows it during the whole season: she bravely takes home Joyce and cares for her, even when she's supposed to be the one taken care off. (I don't know why people keep forgetting that she's just a young girl without any parental support on that situation)
Buffy takes her role as protector very seriously and it's all begin when she's little and Joyce shows her baby!Dawn. It all starts right there in Buffy's mind and it doesn't matter if that memory is an illusion. (I also love this: there's a difference between external reality and personal perception and, in the end, our perception is what matter the most. I'm glad that BtVS show this fact.)

I love S5 because there's happiness in it. There's also excruciating pain and the most terrible loss of all, but there is happiness too and an incredible amound of love. It's still easy for Buffy to embrace all her love for Dawn ("Weird love is better than no love") and to her friends. There are signs of what will happen in S6 but for now the courage prevails and that's comforting to me.
We have the privilege to still laugh at Spike's creepiest attempts to getting noticed by Buffy. The robot thing was disgusting, but the adorableness of Buffybot keeps away the eww and Spike shows how much he can be brave, loving and faithful.
Spike and Buffy work as partners and even as "kinda parents" for Dawn. Spike and Dawn's friendship is one of the most beautiful things ever. He's an evil vampire! And he still sincerely likes Dawn and tries to comfort her as much as he can (The almost caress in Though Love. Be still my heart)

I'm just glad that the show doesn't end with S5, because as much as I love The Gift I think that we already see many female heroes dying and being sacrificed and the hardest thing in the world is not dying, is to living in it. So go Buffy for showing us that the female hero doesn't have to be always the sacrifical lamb. Plus, S6 and S7 are gorgeous. Haters gonna hate.

The season of Fool for Love and Intervention, the season of The Body and Blood Ties. I just LOVE to rewatch S5, even the episodes like Shadow are little masterpieces to my fannish heart. Plus all the amazing hairporn. How can I find something better?

Runner Up: Season 4

I'm surprising myself with this meme. Probably, some years ago, I would have said S2, S3, S6 and S7. (I did say that at some point) And in a way I still want to say that. I still love my messed up but oh-so-fucking-realistic S6 and S7 is the Spuffiest season of them all and I have a huge crush on general!Buffy - She's badass and I would totally fall in love like Satsu for a boss like her, deal with it.

But, in the end, I find that I maybe love the most the happiest episodes of Buffy? Because when I'm scared or too tired I find comfort in watching her fight and win. And in S2, for example, Buffy is surrounded by a big pile of crap because of the Angel-accident and Joss Whedon makes her suffer so much and it's painful to watch it.

So, yes, in this part of my life I tend to rewatch the most empowering episodes like Checkpoint or funny ones like Something Blue or Pangs. I survived the creepy feelings I had for This Years Girl & Who are You and now I find that they are maybe two of the most beautiful episodes EVER. Plus I totally relate to freshman!Buffy.

I'm glad for S4 because of that: starting from The Freshman, I really can relate to the girl. I feel for her and, most important, with her. That creates the bond.

(I recently find myself relating also with Anne!Buffy because of reasons. But yes: latest seasons!Buffy is my favourite Buffy)
And I talked about her the whole post. Go me!

Have to agree with you. Season Five was pretty epic in so many ways.

I get that! I started watching in season 3, and enjoyed the show. I loved the witty writing, and sort of shipped Willow and Oz. But The Freshman really resounded with me; it made me relate to Buffy herself for really the first time. So much love for season 4!

Came here via SU Herald.

I have a special (dark) place in my heart for season six, and always think of it as my favorite. But I love season 5, and objectively, it's the best season. It's the most complete season in terms of a story arc, and it's really consistent in terms of episode quality -- no clunkers at all.

And, Fool for Love.

Fool for Love is beautiful.

I also have a special place for Season Six. I love it because of its complexity and because it shows the less epic and also boring aspects of life. Plus the first episodes with newly resurrected!Buffy are love.

So much love for the Summers sisters!

S6 is my favorite season, but S5 is a close second and I think it is the best season (S6 is more flawed, but more interesting to me).

I love Buffy having a little sister! There aren't enough siblings on TV. It's weird how everyone was an only child in the first few seasons (Angel had a sister, though!).

there's a difference between external reality and personal perception and, in the end, our perception is what matter the most. I'm glad that BtVS show this fact.

I'm trying to decide if I agree with this. I mean, I've been crazy, and I'm really glad that the delusions I thought were true when I was crazy turned out to be objectively false. But perception is important. I love that Dawn is an illusion, though, and that Buffy and Joyce love her anyway, and all the complications that entails. I wish this had continued to be important in S6 and S7.

The robot thing was totally disgusting. Even more than Seeing Red, that was the episode where I was horrified at myself for shipping Buffy/Spike. But ship them I did!

Season 4 is underrated.

I'm trying to decide if I agree with this. I mean, I've been crazy, and I'm really glad that the delusions I thought were true when I was crazy turned out to be objectively false.

After I wrote this I had also to think about it myself. Because I also experienced distortions in perception - and I'm still experiencing it - and I know how it can be difficult to recognize reality for what it is, especially when your perception is fooling you. But I also think that finding an objective reality is impossible in a way and when you finally get to be "sane" is also because something shifted your perception and you changed.

I also ship Spuffy, but the robot was gross. I become a full-time Spuffy shipper in S7, because Spike quits to be so creepy.

That's true. It's important to find a balance between subjectivity and the important but impossible ideal of objectivity.

I become a full-time Spuffy shipper in S7, because Spike quits to be so creepy.

My main Spuffy season is S6. I'm a sick, sick person. :)

I like S7, though! I love the way they manage to repair their relationship after the horror of S6.

Oh, I will eventually get to S6 Spuffy *w* I love even the wrongness of it. I don't care if it's sick. It's better than any love story ;)

I love both those seasons! Yeah the initiative arc wasn't the best, but something about the college feel and the characters transitioning that season really appealed to me, plus so many classic one-off episodes.

S4 isn't really strong with the major story arc - also because Riley should be the emotional centre of the whole Initiative story and maybe we don't care enough about him. But, yes, the stand-alone episodes (Hush, Something Blue, Pangs ...) are the best.
